Why each weapon sits where it does on the weapon tier list
S tier weapons in Monster Hunter Outlanders: Long Sword, Bow, Heavy Bowgun
The Long Sword pairs fast combos with counters that dodge and hit in one move, and Midori, the launch limited Adventurer, uses it. The Bow keeps you mobile at mid range and is simple to control; Luka, a free S-tier Adventurer, uses one. The Heavy Bowgun is the easiest weapon in the game according to both guides we follow: it can guard by hand and, in some situations, automatically, and the official overview says a Perfect Guard reloads it instantly.
A tier: Great Sword, Dual Blades
Both hit hard but ask more of you. The Great Sword needs you to read openings for full charges, although Perfect Evades now keep your charge. Dual Blades live on evasion and Demon Gauge management; Haze, an S-tier support, uses them.
B tier on the weapon tier list: Lance, Hammer, Charge Blade
A low spot on the weapon tier list does not make these weak. They deal good damage once set up. The Lance is safe but slow, the Hammer has only one Adventurer (Rhodes), and the Charge Blade is limited to the Fated Adventurer and has the steepest learning curve.

- Classic moves sit on fixed skill buttons, and follow-ups trigger with a single tap.
- A three-button Adventure Mode (Attack, Evade, Burst) exists alongside the classic control scheme.
